I love dogs, and there is a quote I like that reads-DOGS ARE NOT OUR WHOLE LOVES, BUT THEY MAKE OUR LIVES WHOLE. My other loves--coffee, hot chocolate, the wind before a storm, And Fall, when the air is clean, and filled with the smell of the fall leaves, and you walk along a country road and hear the sound of them crunching underfoot. PUMPKINS! I love pumpkins. I love the look of them, the smell of them when you cut them open. I love them carved and lit up for Halloween, and I love them in pies!!! Pumpkins are wonderful things. Yes, I would have to say that fall is my favorite season. I love it when you walk along, and leaves swirl all around you, in all their magnificent color. And when I was a kid, and you could still burn them on the side of the road, the wonderful smell, and the smoke curls rising up out of the piles of ashes long after you were done. And that scent stayed in the air for days. Yes, I love the FALL.

HAIKU FOR COMPUTERS

HELLO  ALL

I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful spring we've been having. At least here in New England, it has been wonderful, summer like weather, for the most part. I wanted to share an email that I received from my sister. I enjoyed it, and thought maybe you would too.

In Japan, they have replaced the impersonal and unhelpful Microsoftgazer, Error messages,  with  Haiku poetry messages. Haiku poetry has strict construction rules.  Each peom has only three lines, 17 syllables: Five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, five  in the third.  Haiku is used to communicate a timeless message, often achieving a wistful, yearning and powerful insight through extreme brevity-- the essence of Zen:

Your file was so big
It might be very useful
But now it is gone

The Website you seek
Cannot be located, but
Countless more exist

Chaos reigns within
Reflect, repent, and reboot
Order shall return

Program aborting:
Close all that you have worked on
You ask far too much

Windows NT crashed
I am the Blue Screen of Death
No one hears your screams

Yesterday it worked
Today it is not working
Windows is like that

First snow, then silence
This thousand-dollar screen dies
So beautifully

With searching comes loss
And the presence of absence
"My Novel" not found

WHERE THE HECK IS THIS STUPID MUSIC SOMING FROM?

Why is there that awful music playing when I come into my space?  I don't even have music on my space.  What are they doing now? Is anyone else having this problem? I sent a message to Spacecraft, but as yet, they haven't  done anything.  Just wondering if anyone knew what I can do to get rid of it. Oy!

SUBJECT: CUTTING THE GRASS-----PRICELESS

I  received this email today, and it touched me.  So I'm sharing it with you.  No matter how you feel about the war, you have to feel for the guys and gals over there.  They are all somebodies sister or brother, son or daughter, Mom or Dad.  They are all loved and missed by someone.  Sometimes we take so much for granted. We don't always think about our blessings
I hope the picture will go through for you - of this Army soldier in Iraq with his tiny 'plot' of grass in front of his tent. It's heartwarming! Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil -- to bring them good luck.
If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

JUST IN ON DIET AND NUTRITION!!!

Subject: I Love this Doctor

I love this Doctor!!

I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken.. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even mo re of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

 Q: Is chocolate bad for me?< SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: 'Comic Sans MS'; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial">
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A:   If swimmi ng is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

< FONT face="Comic Sans MS" color=#ff0080 size=6>Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride"

AND.....
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat
and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink what you like.
Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

My husband sent me this email today.  Do you think he was trying to tell me something?

Thought I would share it with you so that you all would know what I am up against.

HI THERE, I'M BACK!

Hi everyone. Gee I've missed my computer time. I had absolutely no idea of what raising a baby pigeon was like, let alone 6 of them! I am not a morning person, but had to get up by 5:00a.m. to feed the little darlings. When I got home from work, make the formula, feed 6 babies, clean cages. Then they found their wings and started flying around my dining room. That was when I knew they needed an outside place big enough to exercise. They have to learn many things and build up heir strength before being released. So then I had to come home every day and work on the outside aviary. I screened in under the deck, put up shelves for them, put in a bird bath. Now they go out every day  and learn to be a pigeon. The  older ones were about 4 weeks when I acquired them, and were weaned a couple of weeks ago.  The 2 younger ones were only about two days old, and were totally weaned today. YEA!!! Now they are totally on seed!  I don't leave them out at night. It has been cold here at night, and they weren't used to it. I bring them back in and they go right to their cages. Cute. Most of you probably think I'm nuts, but the poor little things would have died if I hadn't intervened. Sure didn't have any time to be bored, and it was an experience that I wouldn't have missed.  Eventually, they will be released to the small flock that visits my yard daily for the seed I put out for all the birds. And now I will have more time to visit everyone. Most people have never even seen a baby pigeon, as they normally don't even leave the nest until they are 35 days old. By then, they are starting to look like pigeons. If you want to see what they look like a a couple of days old, check out my photo album on Our Baby Pigeons. Tomorrow will be the first of June and I am very happy about that. The weather is starting to warm up. Nice to get outside. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

TAX REBATES

Just wanted to share a recent email I received. Think you'll all like this one, and when you think about it......................................

As you may have heard, each of us will be getting a tax rebate check sometime this summer to help stimulate the economy. Here is some info to help you understand how to spend your money wisely to get the most boost for the US economy.

If we spend the money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.
If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs.
If we purchase a computer it will go to India.
If we purchase fruits and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
If we purchase useless stuff at the dollar store it will go to Taiwan.
If you use it for a down payment on a car it will go to Japan.

None of these will help boost the economy. We need to keep that money here in America.
The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it at yard sales, since those are the only businesses still based in the US.

Any Opinions?

Today Is Our Wedding Anniversary

Today is our Wedding Anniversary, so last night Don came home with a dozen long stemmed red roses. Beautiful, but they just never last long enough.  Tonight he is cooking one of my favorite dinners, Chicken Marsala.   Yummmmmy!  It don't get no better than that. The birds are doing great, I'll be bringing them outside for flying practice if it ever warms up again.  Makes me a little nervous to do that as I worry that they may fly to somewhere I can't get them, and they may not yet be ready to be free.  I'm hoping they will integrate into the little flock of pigeons that come to my yard for the birdseed that spills onto the ground around the feeders.  I had a day off yesterday and spent half of it on the phone with an H.P. tech, trying to straighten out the rediculousness that  downloading and installing  NORTON had caused.  After I installed it, my Windows Photo Gallery  didn't recongnize  my camera.  So I couldn't download  my photos. Horrible!  I had gone to the Norton techs, but they couldn't figure out how to fix it, and insisted that it couldn't have been installing their product.  They told me I'd have to get in touch with my camera company  because it must be the camera, although I had explained that it worked before the installation, doesn't work now, and I have two different cameras, and  Photo Gallery didn't recognize either one of them. That was Tuesday evening.  Wednesday I went to H.P. and the guy was very nice and he found that it had indeed been the NORTON installation. So much for the Norton techs.   Thank god it is working again.  He even called back today to see if everything was still working okay.  Well,  I hope everyone  is having a good week. See ya later.  Gotta go,  dinner is almost ready.

PIGEON UPDATE

Hope everyone has been fine.  I haven't  had much computer time lately, what with the raising of the 6 pigeon babies.  I have raised baby birds in the past, but not birds with crops. A crop is where the food goes and is stored, before it goes into the stomach. The parent pigeon, allows the baby to put its beak  into their beak, and drinks regurgitated "pigeon milk".  Most birds place the food into the babies beak, so when they are approached, the babies open their mouths, and wait for the food to be given to them.  Not so with pigeons. Therefore, it is not natural for them to open their beaks in anticipation of a meal. Trying to get into their little mouths, is like trying to break into Fort Knox.  It takes the patience of a saint. Then, when you finally get the beak open, and start to empty the contents of the eye dropper or syringe, they inevitably pull their bald little pin feathered heads back, turning from side to side as they do this, and the stuff goes all over the place.  If it gets on its eyes, which it sometimes does, then you have to flush it off at the sink.  It is like pudding, but gritty, and if wiped off, could damage the birds eyes.  I can't tell you how much they enjoy and appreciate this little  shower.  Rehabilitaters tell you that it should take from 20 to 30 minutes to feed a baby pigeon.  And this should be done about 5 times a day.  Did any of these people ever try to work, eat, sleep occaisionally, and feed 6 baby pigeons? Well, they were right!  It took about 3 hours to feed them enough to sustain them till the next feeding.  I fed only 3 times daily, sometimes 4 times.  I eventually got the hang of it and got the time down to about 2 hours.  On rare occaision, in a hurry, and without much foreplay or affection, I got the job done in 1 1/2 hrs. Six or 7 hours out of a day, when you work, is like all your time. I'm a night owl, and not a morning person, and I was trying to get to bed by 9 or 10, just so that I could get up at 5:00 a.m. to feed the little monsters before work.  I was still running out late every morning.  And I didn't even mind that, but the fact that they fight you  tooth and claw through every feeding, well, by the end of the ninth day, I thought I was never going to make it to weaning time.  Then, last night, one of them started pecking at the seed and chick starter that I have been providing them with hopes that they would get the idea eventually.  PRAISE GOD!    Today, 3 of the larger babies were eating on their own.  I wanted to cry!  Now they will still need supplemental feedings for another week or so.  We made it through.  The 2 younger ones will still need feeding until they are ready to eat on their own, but I can deal with that. They were only about two days old when I got them, so they don't know that they are supposed to fight me on opening their beaks.  Them I have trained to open their beaks for me.  Gee, I hope feeding their young is not a learned behavior.  I hope it will be instinct if they ever have babies of their own. Cause I'm certainly not teaching them that, in the way I feed them.  They are starting to try out their wings, and have changed so much in the  way they look in just 10 days.  Now they are starting to look like pigeons.  I get pigeons in my yard, because I feed the birds, and they go after the seed that drops from the feeders.  The place they came from is probably only a few minutes away by way of flying.  I sometimes watch them outside and wonder if the parents of my little waifs are out there in the backyard, wondering where their babies are.  Any way, now I may actually have a little time to myself, and visiting.  These pics are the little darlings now. Aren't they cute? I also learned that pigeons usually have two babies at a time, so looks like I have 3 different nests of babies.

ADOPTION OF THE FEATHERED KIND

Aren't  they cute ?  My new kids.  When I got to my last patient today, she had a baby pigeon in a  container on her counter. In with them, she had placed a dish of water and a dish of  seed.  I told her that they can't drink that way or eat seed yet. That they are fed pigeon milk from the mothers crop. She informed me that there were a  two more outside somewhere. Some workers were removing the old porch from the side of her house, and had found a nest up in the eves.  I went out to ask where the others were. It was cute.  The guys had placed a roofing shingle, with a partial nest on the top of some hedges, in the hopes that the Momma pigeon would come back for them. Of course, with all the commotion, she didn't, and the poor little things had been there since about 10:00 a.m..  It was now about 2:00 p.m. . At least it was in the sunshine, but there was also a breeze blowing. Then one of the guys came over with yet another one, whom they had found on the ground.  It probably got spooked and jumped from the nest.  I offered to take them home and try to raise them. I have done this successfully before, but not knowing how  chilled they may have gotten  during the day, I wasn't all that sure of their survival.  Anyway, home I brought them.  My husband wasn't that surprised, because with me, he says he never knows what to expect. I was feeding them catfood blended with water, until he could run out to the pet shop and pick up bird formula, and a heating element to keep them warm. I had one around here somewhere from when I raised a baby snapping turtle a few years ago, but I couldn't find it, so my patient husband who almost always  goes along with the nutty things I do, went running out for supplies for the new babies.  It looks odd to see them, as two are so much bigger then the others. They hatched ahead of the little guys.  They aren't particularly fond of being feed with an eye dropper or a syringe, but hopefully, they'll  get used to it when they realize that that is their food source.  I have absolutely no idea  what the heck I will do tomorrow, as I have to go to work.  Anyone want to volunteer to come feed them for me ?  Just what I needed.  But I couldn't just leave them there to starve and freeze.  I feel badly for the poor Momma pigeon who must have been frantic. But they never would have lasted on the top of the hedge, and I don't know that she would have found them no matter where we put them.  Wish me luck with the babies.  I don't know why, but these things always seem to find me.  Gotta go get dinner for Don, as it is almost 8:30, and he hasn't eaten dinner yet.   Good Momma, bad wife. Oh well........................................

AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH

As most people know, April is Autism awareness month, and if anyone has a family member with autism, or maybe a friend who has a child with autism, you should check out my  friend Debs space.  Her daughters son, Eric, was diagnosed with autism a few months back, and they have  learned so much about autism in order to help little Eric. He is such a beautiful and bright little boy, and so lucky to have such a  caring family to love him.
she has done  a post that really explains it from the eyes of the autistic child.
What it is like to have this condition, and many of the challenges one would face. I highly recommend reading this post to anyone wanting to know more about  the subject.
Her spaces is on      http://debbie49.spaces.live.com
Excellent  post  Deb!

POLAR BEARS VERSUS DOGS

I  received an email and thought it was really neat, so I thought I'd share it. I could see the pictures, but apparently no one else could, so here it is again.

It seems this guy in Canada had his sled dogs tethered, when along came a very large polar bear.  As it approached  his dogs, he was sure this was the end of his dogs.  These are the pictures he was able to take.

This polar bear actually returned each night the following week to play with the dogs!

How wonderful it would be if we  HUMANS   could get along like these animals, in spite of our differences, and learn to look for the positives in others, instead of concentrating on the differences. How much better would this world be, and how much more fun the ride!

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Okay, enough is enough!  Does anyone see anything wrong with this coin?  It is the New Dollar.  Isn't it pretty? The only thing is that they left something off the front of it.  IN  GOD  WE  TRUST!  It isn't enough that they took God out of the schools. The pledge of allegiance is no longer said. ( we must be politically correct.) Wouldn't want to antagonize those who do not believe that God actually exists. Far better to remove Him from those who do.  And the Christmas tree is no longer a Christmas tree. Wouldn't want to  distress those who do not celebrate Christmas either. Although, those people are more than welcome to have their own tree. Better to remove it from the majority who do.  There was even a thing a while ago, about not wanting to photograph soldiers praying. Guess that offends some people who don't believe in that either.  Well, now they have found a new way to erase Him from sight. They have taken  the words  IN GOD WE TRUST,  OFF OF THE NEW COIN.  Maybe they figure nobody will notice. Or maybe that no one will care.  Some are refusing the coin and asking for a dollar bill instead.  Oh it is still on the coin they say.  And they are correct.  It is on the edge of the coin, where, if you hold it up to a bright light, put on your reading glasses, and get out the magnifying glass, you may still be able to see it.  But I guess this way, those whom it offends to see  the words  In God We Trust,  don't have to look at it.   And, of course, it will wear off sooner, so nobody will have to see it.  If nobody complains about this change , they will probably eventually delete it altogether. I don't know about anyone else, But I, for one, am fed up with this  Godless attitude. This country was built, on the belief  in  God, and if anyone doesn't care for that belief,  then, by all means, let them go somewhere  else. Maybe where they  can worship  the devil, or maybe just the existance of nothing. The  Christians in this country should be able to  continue to  acknowledge  and celebrate the existance  of God in all the   ways  that we have always done.  Don't get me wrong.  I don't want to take away anyone elses rights, but I resent the hell out of these  people  stomping all over mine.  And the sad thing is, that so many people just stand by and say nothing.  I know some feel as I do, but I believe that many are becoming  so immune, so unaffected  by this sort of thing, that they just accept it.  One day, God will be entirely removed from anything other than the Bible. And that, my friends, will be a sad, sorry day.  BY THE GRACE OF GOD, THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!   AMEN!!!

Engine Light

Just called the place where I bought the car, and where they are working on her to find out why the  check engine   light is coming on. Seems the car needed a new catalytic converter. That's expensive. But , of course, they had to do the job for zip.  I'm glad that if it was on its way out, it happened now, not later. As Jade mentioned, that light can come on for so many reasons, one of which is that the gas cap  is not screwed on tightly. Messes up the vacuum.  At least its fixed, and God willing, I won't have any problems . So, soon, I will be picking Don up after work and going to pick up my car.  *happy dance*.

Looks Like I've Got Myself A New Car

Well, it looks like I've got myself a new car, and it is not the Smart For Two that I wanted to get, when and if I got a new car.  Two years ago, I bought my Ford Taurus  2006 (black), which I really liked.  Then a couple of weeks ago, Dons car died .  So we needed another car.  As if we're not spending enough money on the apartment updates. So I didn't really want to start up with another car payment  at this time.  Well a deal on a car came up,  so rather than  wait any longer, or keep looking , I thought we should buy the car. Only one problem, it's a standard, and Don doesn't drive a standard.  Which means I get the (new to me) Pontiac Sunfire  2004, and Don inherits my Ford Taurus. He's very satisfied with the deal.  Of course, the   CHECK  ENGINE  LIGHT  came on almost right away, so now it's back in the shop to be fixed.  Wouldn't   you think they'd have  found this and fixed it  before   they sold the car?  So today I was back to dropping him off at work, so that I could take the car for the day. It was supposed to be done by this afternoon, but when I called them at the end of the day, they were just bringing it in to work on.  So I'll be taking the Taurus again tomorrow, which means that Don will have to go in early. Needless to say, he is not a happy camper. Hopefully, after tomorrow, it will be straightened  out. I hope so. Makes me a little uneasy starting out with troubles right away. Hope this is not a sign of things to come. It's a cute little car, and fun to drive, so I hope everything works out.

SENATOR PATTY MURRAY'S SPEECH

Has everybody heard about Senator Patty Murray's Speech, given on the senate floor? Very interesting.  You can check it out on   http://murray.senate.gov/news.cfm?id=294366   What is our government thinking?  Tell me what you think.

Air Force Tankers: Murray Decries Outsourcing of Jobs and Military Technology in Speech on Senate Floor
For Immediate Release: Thursday, March 6, 2008

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) delivered a speech on the Senate floor that highlighted the jobs and military technology that would go to Airbus, a European based company, under the $40 billion contract the Air Force has awarded them to build our aerial refueling tankers.
The full text of Senator Murray's speech follows:
Madam President, I’ve come to the floor today because we have to wake up this country.
We are at risk of losing a major part of our aerospace industry to the Europeans forever.
And I am outraged that the Pentagon is not only going to:
stand by and let it happen
but that it’s the Pentagon that made the decision in the first place.
I’m referring, of course, to the Air Force’s decision on Friday to award one of the largest military contracts in history to the French company Airbus – over the American company Boeing.
With this $40 billion contract, our Air Force is beginning the process of rebuilding our aerial refueling tanker fleet.  And the planes we are purchasing will be used for the next 30 years or more.
We’re Handing Airbus Control of our Technology
As we learn more about this decision, I grow more astounded at its shortsightedness.
Madam President, as I speak today, Airbus does not actually supply this military capability to any government.
The tanker the Administration wants Airbus to build is unproven.  In fact, in my home state of Washington, the machinists call it a “paper airplane” because it only exists on paper.
Right now, the company that supplies those planes is Boeing.  And it has built them for about 50 years.
Up until now, we have controlled our own military refueling capabilities.
But with this decision, we are handing Airbus that control.
What makes this so disturbing is that we’re outsourcing those jobs to a company that has spent years blatantly working to dismantle the American aerospace industry.
Airbus is a European Jobs Program
Madam President, Airbus is controlled by foreign governments, which follow the social welfare model.
Those countries subsidize Airbus, allowing it to sell planes at discounted rates – all as long as it creates jobs for European workers.
Our government is concerned enough about this practice that we have a WTO case against the EU.
But apparently that didn’t matter to this Administration.  Because by giving Airbus this contract, we are laying out the welcome mat to walk all over our military production capability.
What’s the incentive to buy an American-made tanker, if they can get an import at fire-sale prices.
With this contract we’re allowing Airbus to take over our military technology – and we’re actually paying them to do it.
How Many Airbus Jobs Will Be Created?
Now, Airbus has launched a slick marketing campaign to try to convince Congress and the public that this decision will actually be good for the United States.
I spoke on the floor at length yesterday about Airbus’s long history of exaggerating the number of American jobs it has produced.
And I think it’s very interesting that while Airbus has put its supporters on radio and TV over here to talk about how excited they are about the number of U.S. jobs this deal will create – the news in Europe is about 180 degrees different.
Reuters ran an article datelined out of Paris yesterday, reporting that Airbus’s parent company EADS was scrambling to clarify that NO jobs would be relocated from Europe to the United States.
And a British publication earlier this week reported that almost all of the construction work will be done in Europe.  Then Airbus will fly the plane to the U.S. for finishing.
Madam President, if Boeing had won the contract, it would have created 44,000 U.S. jobs.
By awarding this contract to Airbus, the U.S. government is leading those jobs to the guillotine.
Now, the most frustrating thing about all of this is that the Air Force has insisted on defending this decision.
Yesterday – according to The Associated Press and other news outlets – one official testified to the House that the Pentagon didn’t have to consider the location of assembly and manufacturing facilities for those planes.
All it needed was the promise by Airbus that it would team with Northrop Grumman and U.S. suppliers.
So in other words, the Air Force didn’t consider – at all – Airbus’s record of playing unfair on trade.
It didn’t consider – at all – the number of jobs we will certainly lose because of this contract.
And it didn’t consider – at all – what this could mean for our ability to produce our own military technology.
When we’re at war across the globe, I think we should at least consider what it means to give a company – owned by foreign governments – control over our military technology.
And I think we should do it before we finalize this deal.
Airbus and EADS have already given us plenty of reason to worry about how hard they will work to protect our security interests.
Madam President, here are just two examples:
In 2005, EADS was caught trying to sell military helicopters to Iran.
And in 2006, EADS tried to sell transport and patrol planes to Venezuela – a circumvention of U.S. law.
Suppose Europe and the U.S. have a major disagreement over foreign policy?
Do we want France or any other country to have the ability to slow down our military capacity because it doesn’t like our policies?
Madam President, with one contract, we could wipe out 50 years of aerospace experience.
And once it’s gone, we won’t get back over night.
Shouldn’t we at least have a serious debate about this before we give it all away?

AN INFANTS CONVERSATION WITH GOD

A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.'

The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.'

Again the child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak .'

'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?' God said, 'Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.'

'Who will protect me?' God said, 'Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.'

'But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.' God said, 'Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.'

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, 'God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.'

God said, 'You will simply call her, 'Mom.'

Lift a mother's spirit...send this to every mother you know...Our babies are ALWAYS our babies...even when they grow older right along with us!

This was an email sent to me, and I thought it very much worth sharing.

Just Another Saturday

What a wasted day we had. I did get the oil changed in my car like I wanted, as I am way over do, but of course, because we got such a late start, ( I am just such a morning person)we waited over an hour. Then went to Lowes, and got the 9 screws they left out of the box for the bathroom light I had bought. And the part for the stove hood that was broken when we took that out of the box. The woman told me I'd have to bring the light fixture back, and the stove hood if I wanted the replacement parts. I told her that they were already installed, (which they were), and if indeed I did bring them back, They would stay here, and I would go to Home Depot. She then told me to go get the replacement parts I needed. There wasn't another light fixture like the one I had bought, so they couldn't get screws from anywhere. I then told the guy there  that if I had to return the damn light, I would go to Home Depot for another light. He found screws, just like I needed on another fixture in another box.  Why do I just know  that they will sell that light fixture minus the 9 screws that they removed from it for me to yet another unsuspecting person? That done, we left the store.  Thank God we have both Lowes and Home depot in rather close proximity, so that we can use the other store for a threat. I spent last Saturday shopping for the things that I had to return for parts for yesterday.  We bought the sink from Home Depot, and had to return it, as it was chipped badly. Then we had to make calls to the other Home Depots to chase down another one just like it, cause that's the one that fits onto the vanity we bought there. Then we wanted to have the second store send it to the first store, which is closer to where we live, and where we had bought the first one.  The employee at the closer store said  he didn't think they would transport it from one store to the other. Did you ever hear of such a thing?  When I called the second store and told them that I would return the whole thing, vanity and all and shop somewhere else,  the manager, who suddenly became very helpful, said they would send it over right away.  We received a phone call the next day. They sent it that morning, and it was ready for pickup. Another Goal for our side.  After our fun at Lowes, Don ran into the market for a few things, and bought some bread to feed the seagulls that hang around the parking lot. Rhode Island is bordered by water, but Woonsocket is so far from it, you wouldn't think that gulls would be hanging around, but they always are. We often buy them bread and feed them in the parking lot. People must think we're crazy.  That was the only relaxing part of the day.  They're actually rather pretty birds, and quite fiesty, where food is concerned.

Why is it that whenever you buy something, there is either a part missing, or some part of it is broken?  Sometimes I feel like we should just buy two and return the one that doesn't work. Nothing is made in America anymore. Everything is made in China or Indonesia or some where else. Even the things that are made over here, are assembled somewhere else. What's with that? I'm sure everyone  feels like we do. JUST OUR LUCK!  But I'm sure it happens to everyone.  So, anyway, I spent another day of rediculous running around, and feeling at the end of the day as if I hadn't accomplished a damn thing.  Is it me, or do the manufacturers of these things, and even more so, the stores that sell these things, just not care anymore?  What ever happened to  THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT? Doesn't anyone take pride in their work any more?  Was a time when businesses  took pride in their products, and  they would fight to keep their customers. Now, there are so many people, that they don't need you. They have millions of other customers.  It ain't gettin' better.
